The Reader: Evelina

Aubrey Beardsley is most well known for illustrating the works of Oscar Wilde and his trademark pen and ink art is a style I have admired since my A-level art days.

I've created Evelina to echo Beardsley's unique monochromatic vision and his flair for combining elegance with a touch of the mystical.

Her presence in the design is both tranquil and profound, reflecting Beardsley's skill in portraying complex emotions through simple yet powerful lines.

The scene is illuminated by an ornately detailed lamp casting a soft light over her book.

It's a celebration of quiet moments, of losing oneself in the rich tapestry of literary worlds, much like Beardsley's work often transports viewers to fantastical realms.
